NIIT Limited, a player in skills and talent development, has appointed Pankaj Jathar as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Pankaj succeeds Sapnesh Lalla, who transitions to a non-executive director role at NIIT Ltd while continuing as CEO of NIIT Learning Systems (NIIT MTS).

With NIIT’s focus on India’s burgeoning skills and careers landscape post its demerger in 2023, Pankaj Jathar’s appointment marks a pivotal moment. He brings extensive experience from consumer-focused sectors including e-commerce, startups, and direct-to-consumer ventures

Pankaj boasts over 25 years in global corporations, starting as a Management Trainee at NIIT and later contributing significantly at Tata Interactive Systems in London. His tenure at Accenture as a solution architect in the banking and finance sector further enriched his expertise.

He also played a key role in launching Amazon India and subsequently led Prione, Amazon’s joint venture with Catamaran, as CEO since 2020.

“We are thrilled to welcome Pankaj Jathar back to the NIIT family,” said Rajendra S. Pawar, Chairman and Co-founder of NIIT Limited. “His extensive background in technology-driven industries makes him an ideal leader for NIIT Ltd. Under his guidance, we are committed to nurturing talent and advancing our vision of excellence.”

Pankaj Jathar remarked, “I am honoured to return to NIIT Ltd. …and look forward to collaborating with NIIT’s talented team to leverage our strengths, explore new opportunities, and empower our learners and partners.”

Pankaj completed his BE from Pune University, pursued GNIIT in Pune, and earned an MBA from IIM Calcutta in 1998.
