Bandhan Bank names Ratan Kumar Kesh interim CEO —

Bandhan Bank announced that Ratan Kumar Kesh, its current Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer, will take over as the bank’s interim Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) effective July 10th, 2024.

This comes after the bank’s founder, Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, announced his retirement earlier this year, concluding his tenure on July 9th. The bank announced this in a regulatory filing with the stock exchange.

Kesh’s appointment, approved by the Reserve Bank of India, will see him lead Bandhan Bank for a period of three months or until a permanent MD&CEO is appointed, whichever comes first. It also requires shareholder approval.

A seasoned banking professional with nearly 30 years of experience, Kesh has held leadership roles in various domains across the industry, including technology, operations, and customer experience. Prior to joining Bandhan Bank in March 2023, he worked with leading institutions like ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Yes Bank, and Axis Bank.

At Bandhan Bank, Kesh has spearheaded key functions such as technology, operations, customer experience, and digital transformation. He is credited with successfully leading the bank’s IT transformation and optimising its processes, controls, and customer services.
