Amazon India is undergoing a leadership transition. Samir Kumar, a 25-year veteran of the company, will step into the role of Country Manager for Amazon India, effective October 1.

This change comes as Manish Tiwary, the current Country Manager, has decided to pursue new opportunities outside the company, Amit Agarwal, Amazon’s SVP for Emerging Markets, today announced in an internal email.

Samir Kumar, who joined Amazon in 1999 and played a pivotal role in launching Amazon.in in 2013, will now oversee Amazon’s India consumer business while continuing his current responsibilities for the consumer markets in the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey.

The transition will see the existing Amazon.in the leadership team, including Saurabh Srivastava, Harsh Goyal, Amit Nanda, and Aastha Jain, reporting to Samir. Kishore Thota will now report directly to Amit Agarwal, SVP for Emerging Markets.

Amit Agarwal praised Manish Tiwary’s leadership, acknowledging his significant contributions to establishing Amazon.in as a leading online marketplace in India.

Agarwal expressed enthusiasm about the future under Samir Kumar’s leadership, highlighting India’s continued strategic importance for Amazon and the company’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
