The Walgreens Boots Alliance leadership just announced three new members for its executive VP team with the aim of improving its healthcare services and strategy, which includes Elizabeth Burger Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Mary Langowski President for the U.S. Healthcare segment, and Manmohan Mahajan as Global Chief Financial Officer. All three candidates are experienced individuals in their own fields and should help the company achieve accelerated growth in the industry. The updates to the Walgreens executive team were announced by CEO Tim Wentworth who also took up the position at the company quite recently, appointed in October 2023. He is also the finance chief for the healthcare segment, playing a dual role in furthering the reach of the company beyond neighborhood pharmacies towards the fast-growing areas of healthcare.

Meet the New Executive Team at Walgreens Boots Alliance
With a 170-year heritage of working in healthcare, Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) has had a shining legacy of caring for its customers. With 12,500 locations in the U.S. and 330,000 employees, the retail pharmacy serves quite a significant portion of the country’s healthcare supply needs and aims to expand even further with its new hires.
Mary Langowski, Executive Vice President and President of the U.S. Healthcare WBA unit joined Walgreens Boots Alliance after acting as CEO of Solera Health since 2020, moving from her role of independent board director. She is also the ex-VP and chief strategy and corporate development officer of CVS Health, another leading health solutions company in the country. She has considerable experience working in the healthcare field and should be a very helpful addition to the company.
Another member of the new Walgreens Boots Alliance leadership is Manmohan Mahajan, the new Executive Vice President and Global Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mahajan’s appointment isn’t necessarily a new occurrence considering he has been serving as interim CFO since July 2023. He has been a part of the Walgreens executive team since 2016, serving as senior VP and chief accounting officer since the start. With a strong sense of familiarity with the company’s workings and having been a part of critical decisions at the company for example “keeping the company on pace toward $1 billion in cost savings this year,” he appears to have long been an obvious choice for the role.
The third new presence on the Walgreens Boots Alliance leadership team is Elizabeth Burger, the Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. She held a similar role of CHRO at Flowserve as well as HanesBrands Inc., which makes her very familiar with the role albeit in different industries. “Burger is a high-energy, results-oriented CHRO with more than 25 years of demonstrated business experience. She is known for developing and implementing change strategies that position businesses for growth,” the company states.
