Social Security Benefits July Schedule: Important Dates to Remember

The SS payment for July 2025 is scheduled to go out in less than 10 days, so if you want to know what to expect, we’re here to help. The Social Security benefits for July will allow recipients to breathe a sigh of relief and plan ahead for their expenses for the month, as many rely on the benefits for a majority of their expenses. The distribution of the Social Security payments will occur according to recipient birthdates, allowing for a more staggered distribution as the month proceeds. This isn’t a new system, but if you are unfamiliar with the workings of the Social Security system, tracking the SS payment dates for 2025 might be a little confusing.

Over 70 million Americans rely on the benefits provided by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to maintain a stable quality of life, making it a central pillar in the overall well-being of the population, particularly the elderly. Different categories of recipients can expect to receive their Social Security payments at different stages of the month, and knowing the dates in advance can be a helpful way to plan out expenses.

The Rollout of the Social Security Benefits in July—When Can You Expect a Payment?

Social security payments include retirement, spousal, and survivor benefits, as well as a separate category of Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and the payments are distributed based on the recipient’s birth date or the duration of receiving benefits. According to the SSI payment July 2025 schedule, recipients can expect their benefits to roll in on the first day of the month on July 1, Tuesday. For other recipients, the benefits will be staggered and sent out by category.

Some important SS payment dates for July 2025 include:

  • July 3, 2025: Payments for those who have been receiving their retirement benefits since before May 1997 and retirees who also collect SSI benefits
  • July 9, 2025: Payments for those born on dates between the 1st and 10th of any calendar month
  • July 16, 2025: Payments for those born on dates between the 11th and 20th of any calendar month
  • July 23, 2025: Payments for those born between the 21st and 31st of any calendar month

If you qualify for the social security benefits in July, the SSA recommends waiting for three working days—other than weekends and federal holidays—before contacting the administration if your payment does not arrive on time.

SSI July 2025 Payment Schedule

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a separate aspect of the Social Security program where monthly benefits are paid to people with limited income and resources who are blind, age 65 or older, or have a qualifying disability. The SSI payment schedule is different from the Social Security benefit, and is paid on the first of the month, however, if the first falls on a weekend or a federal holiday, payments are issued on the last business day before it.

The SSI payment for June 2025, for example, was sent out on May 30 as June 1 was a weekend. As a result, SSI recipients received two payments in May 2025 and none in June. For July, however, this is not the case. The SSI payment for the month will be sent out as scheduled on July 1, 2025.

How Much Money Is Available via Social Security?

According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), the average benefits available to retired workers in May 2025 were $2,002.39, crossing the $2,000 mark for the first time. The average back in April stood around $1,999.97.

For this year, the maximum Social Security benefit available for someone who has retired at the full retirement age is $4,018. Those who claim their benefit early at 62 can expect a maximum of $2,831, while those who delay retirement to 70 can expect a maximum of $5,108. Benefits are calculated based on a worker’s highest 35 years of earnings, adjusted for inflation, which is why averages increase as new retirees with higher earnings enter the system.

On the other hand, the SSI payments for May averaged $718.30. The maximum SSI benefit available for 2025 adds up to $967 for individuals and $1,450 for couples.

If you’re expecting to receive social security benefits in July, you can set your expectations accordingly and pay attention to the dates to ensure your payments come in on time.
