Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has announced the appointment of Gaurav Banerjee as its new chief executive officer. Banerjee has succeeded NP Singh who decided to step down after 25 years at Sony last week. According to media reports, Banerjee is expected to join by August.
An alumnus of Jamia Milia Islamia University and St Stephens College, Delhi, Banerjee started his career as a journalist. In his most recent role, he served Disney Star as the CEO.
Banerjee reportedly resigned from his position at Disney Star, where he was in charge of content for Hindi entertainment and Disney+ Hotstar, and the business head for Star Bharat, Hindi & English movies, kids & infotainment and the regional channels in the east.
