A recent report of data from Sun Life showed that a “gender health gap” is continuing to widen, and women who are reaching menopause during the peak stages of their careers are faced with tough choices about how to navigate.
Menopause has serious effects on women’s careers, the report detailed, and it also has serious implications for organizations and the larger labour market.
The main cause for these career-limiting effects is lack of support stemming from a societal culture of silence around menopause, says Janet Ko, president and co-founder of nonprofit The Menopause Foundation of Canada (MFC).
